About the Falcons Landing MOAA Chapter

The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is the nation's largest and most influential association of military officers. It is an independent, nonprofit, and politically nonpartisan organization.

The Falcons Landing Chapter (FLC) is one of more than 400-plus local organizations affiliated with National MOAA and is a member of the Virginia Council of Chapters. The Chapter is located at Falcons Landing, a Life Plan Community which is operated by the Air Force Retired Officers Community (AFROC). It is the only MOAA Chapter in Loudoun County. The Chapter is also a member of the Council of Chapters, MOAA.

The mission of the Chapter is to provide programs supporting those who are serving, those who have served, and those who have survived, with a special focus on community support.

CHAPTER MEMBERSHIP

Our chapter welcomes anyone who holds, or has ever held, a warrant or commission in any branch of the military: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Space Force, Public Health Service, and NOAA. This also includes their surviving spouses.

As of March 31, 2025, there were 122 Premium Members and 68 Auxiliary Chapter Members. bringing our total to 190 Chapter Members.

SUPPORTING LOCAL VETERANS

Our most important ongoing program is providing various kinds of local support to veterans and their families. For example, we started the Loudoun Veterans and Family Support (LVFS) program with Community Lutheran Church of Sterling. This program offers financial and general help to Loudoun County veterans who need it.

We also strongly support the Loudoun County Community Veterans Engagement Board (LCCVEB). Their goal is to promote a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle for Loudoun County veterans and their families through community outreach and advocating for their needs.

AND THOSE ABROAD

Four times a year, our chapter supports the AdoptaPlatoon Soldier Support Effort®. This initiative is dedicated to helping deployed U.S. service members by sending ongoing care packages. These packages improve their quality of life and boost morale for those serving overseas in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Special Forces.

JROTC SCHOLARSHIPS FOR FUTURE LEADERS

We support three Junior ROTC units in our area: the Air Force JROTC unit at Chantilly High School in Fairfax, the Navy JROTC unit at Loudoun County High School in Leesburg, and the Army JROTC unit at South Lakes High School in Reston. Our Chapter President and Director of JROTC Programs present scholarships to selected cadets at each school. Additionally, a special Lieutenant General John Pustay Scholarship is awarded to a chosen cadet at Chantilly High School.

DISTINGUISHED SPEAKERS AND THOUGHT-PROVOKING SUBJECTS

Each month, we host "The Gathering," a program featuring distinguished guest speakers who present on current and past world and government affairs.

We've also created a Speakers’ Bureau. This aligns with our goal of keeping the American public informed about our military. We currently have 16 topics and speakers ready to present to the local community.

WE HONOR

We hold Memorial Day and Veterans Day Programs each year at Falcons Landing.
